Harpo Speaks! is one of the most fascinating books you'll ever read. Born in 1888, Aldolph Marx grew up in New York City with 4 brothers who were vastly different from one another. The Marx's were very poor, yet they had a mother who was rich in ideas. She took them on the road and got them into show business. Harpo, by the way, had but a 2nd grade education, yet he hobnobbed with such intellectuals as George Bernard Shaw, and was a member of the Algonquin Round Table. He was also a very dear friend of Oscar Levant. There are several parallels between "Life Ain't Kind" and "Harpo Speaks!" After all, Harpo's greatest love was music.
